They describe the kind of software a processor and operating system can run. You do not need to choose by guessing: use an image explicitly listed for your exact board. A 64-bit-capable processor can still be used with a 32-bit image.

Linux supplies the operating system and hardware drivers underneath RetroPie. Bookworm is the name of Debian 12; Raspberry Pi OS builds on Debian. An image includes that underlying system, while a manual installation adds RetroPie to an existing system.

- Raspberry Pi disk images will not serve as an Orange Pi installation.
- Manufacturer graphics API capabilities do not establish Linux driver or emulator compatibility.

Which games and systems should I expect to run?
We have no measured performance matrix for this board. Emulator choice, the game, display resolution, cooling and software version can all affect results. A faster processor does not guarantee full-speed N64, Dreamcast, PSP, Saturn or newer systems.
Start with one legally obtained test program. Check controls, sound, saves and return to the menu before expanding your setup.
