Troubleshooting

Permission denied or saves will not persist

Files cannot be read, written or saved as expected.

Start here

  1. Check whether the storage is full and whether the intended path exists.
  2. Confirm which account created or transferred the files.
  3. Back up saves before changing ownership or configuration.
  4. Apply the narrowly relevant upstream fix only after identifying the affected directory.
What usually causes this?

Ownership mismatch, a read-only file system, full storage or a wrong path.

Advanced explanation

Avoid blanket chmod 777 or recursive ownership changes across the whole system. They can damage unrelated configuration.
